The MP Record

Behind this site sits a rolling record of what all 650 UK MPs have said, asked and voted on in Parliament, drawn from Parliament's own open data: transcribed speech from Hansard, written questions tabled, and division records. Every entry is attributable to a named MP, dated, and carries a URL back to the canonical Parliament page, which is what makes any claim built on it checkable by a reader.

The record is held and analysed on one local machine. It cross-checks each MP's stated positions against what they publicly endorse elsewhere and against the business events around their decisions, and surfaces inconsistencies for a human to review. Nothing is published automatically, and nothing appears on this page until a finding has cleared the same standard as everything else on this site: quoted, dated, cited, signed off by a person.

The review process is deliberate by design: a contradiction is only publishable after a human has confirmed it against the primary sources. Confirmed findings will appear on this page with links to the parliamentary record. The method page explains the standard they have to clear.

What this record is not

It is not a searchable archive of MP statements, and this site does not republish the record. The corpus covers a rolling window, not full careers; division entries describe votes in generated wording rather than MPs' own language; and statements about named individuals reach this site only inside a reviewed finding.
